Fitness Trends That Everyone Will Embrace In 2017

Sometimes for the new year, all you want to do is switch it up. Try something different or turn a corner from the routines you've grown accustomed to.

If you want to shake up your fitness habits, it already looks like 2017, from gadgets to workouts, you will have lots of options to keep you on your toes. 

So, take a little glimpse into the future to see which fitness crazes you'll be loving in the new year.

Fitness Trackers

Fitness trackers have been picking up steam for a couple years now, but in 2017, they are really primed to take off. With more options than ever and trackers to help you meditate, stop bad habits, and even fix your posture, it's more than likely you'll find one to fit your needs. Hey, if Superman is wearing a tracker, we definitely all could use one.

Exercise as Medicine

More and more doctors are recommending physical activity in addition to changes in diet to promote better health. So, thinking of each trip to the gym equalling one less trip to the doctor, may be your motivation in the new year.

Boxing Workouts

Boxing obviously isn't new, but using this intense, high cardio sport for exercise is finding a new audience. More boutique boxing classes are opening up all the time and you can get a great sweat on without worrying about getting punched in the face. Plus, there's no better way to get out your frustration at your cubicle mate who plays loud music without headphones, than by hitting the heavy bag.

Megaformer

Sadly, Megaformer is not a Transformers based workout, though someone should name a workout the "Optimus Prime." Instead, Megaformers is an amped up version of pilates that uses reformer machines for added difficulty. Some of these moves may look easy, but those side planks on a sliding base will feel real hard after a 30-sec hold.

Live-Stream Fitness Classes

Since it seems like you can do everything from your phone or tablet, why not use them for exercise, too? A variety of gyms offer live stream classes. The live-stream still gives you a specific start time, so you don't keep hitting the snooze, and most classes have some interactive options. The teacher may not be able to give you personal notes, but you can usually ask questions or post your results to everyone else doing the workout from home. Unfortunately, it probably won't be till at least 2070 that our tablets actually work out for us, but this is the next best thing.

HIIT Training

High Intensity Interval Training gets more and more popular every year and it doesn't look like that's about to change in 2017. With fitness classes more consistently mixing weights and cardio and experts advising short and intense workouts over low and slow, if you haven't taken a HIIT yet, this is the year.

Fitness for Kids

Childhood obesity is still on the rise, so finding ways to keep kids active is more important than ever. You'll be seeing more ways to incorporate your kids into your training and people letting their little ones tag along as they workout. Kids learn from watching what their parents do, so if you stay active, they'll want to stay active with you. Don't be afraid to make the gym a family affair!
